Farewell, Maurice Sendak

Farewell, Maurice Sendak

It’s a sad day for Children’s Literature.  The AP reported that Maurice Sendak passed away this morning after having a stroke on Friday.  At 83, he was still creating beloved books and honing the talents of young authors and illustrators.

He will certainly be remembered for his classic, Where the Wild Things Are, but who can forget Mickey from In the Night Kitchen and his latest party animal, BUMBLE-ARDY?

His latest picture book, “My Brother’s Book,” is due out in February 2013, reports The New York Times.
